Social Media

Selfies

"Social Media" presents a vivid and thought-provoking exploration of human interaction with vast cosmic wonders. This captivating piece envelops the viewer in a striking contrast between the abstract and the realistic, prompting a reflection on contemporary behavior. At the forefront, a collection of abstract and colorful figures is depicted, their vibrant and expressive forms drawing the eye with a rich tapestry of textures and hues. Each figure is poised with a sense of anticipation, yet their intent gaze is not on the grand backdrop but seemingly just beyond it, evoking a modern-day phenomenon with their implication of smartphone usage.

Behind them, a mesmerizing triptych spreads across the canvas, revealing a breathtaking cosmic scene that includes a starry sky strewn with distant planets, shimmering stars, and ethereal nebulae. This juxtaposition between the figures and the vast, detailed universe underscores both the grandeur of the space they stand before and the irony of their distraction.

The work is a compelling social commentary on the pervasive nature of technology in our lives, where even the most overwhelming natural wonders become less of a focal point in the face of digital self-absorption. “Social Media” challenges viewers to contemplate the balance between experiencing the world through one's own eyes and the lens of a device, urging a deeper connection with the universe around us. It's an invitation to step back, breathe in the majesty of what lies beyond, and perhaps find a new way to engage with the world’s wonders beyond the confines of a screen.
